Hello! I’m excited to begin a new series where I’ll share my meal plan each week!
Meal planning is something I’ve always enjoyed…is it weird that I love to grocery shop? That is, when I don’t have toddlers throwing a tantrum! I’ve found that meal planning is one of the most common stumbling blocks for people in my fitness groups who have big goals of becoming more healthy. It can feel so daunting to figure out what to be eating that will most effectively fuel their weight loss/health goals. I am a HUGE fan of the container system that was initially designed for the 21 day fix – I think it’s brilliant! It’s super simple to follow, and I love that there’s no calorie counting. Just keeping track of cute little containers! BUT at first, it can definitely seem overwhelming to figure out how to plan well with how to use those containers.
Having a meal plan in place for each week is the first step to ensuring success with nutrition…and of course, sticking with it!! A plan does no good if it is awesome on paper but there’s no determination to stick to it! Each Saturday or Sunday, I sit down with a few of my favorite cookbooks and pinterest and plan out my meals, including snacks. I begin with dinners, and plan to make enough for lunch as leftovers for myself, my husband and kiddos. I usually leave two dinners a week without a plan, as it always seems that we have more leftovers than we plan on, or our schedule changes so that we don’t end up at home for dinner.
For snacks, I always plan to have protein, fruit and veggie options available in the refrigerator to grab so that I don’t turn to something like chips!
I will be sharing about how I meal prep later this week, but here is my meal plan for this week! In this final stretch of pregnancy, I’m not following the container system for my nutrition perfectly, as a lot of days I feel so full. I simply do my best to eat real, whole foods, a variety of colors, and plenty of fruits, veggies, proteins and healthy fats!
